katie + andy
I remember the first time I talked to Katie – I happened to be in Houston at my parents’ house. I got off of the phone with her after our consultation, went downstairs and told my mom “Oh my gosh, I really hope I get to work with her. She is just so awesome.” And that is a serious understatement… as I was lucky enough to find out. She is beyond awesome! And then when I met Andy during one of their trips to Austin at their favorite spot (Guero’s on South Congress), things made even more sense. He is amazing too! A doctor and a lawyer who happened to meet by chance on New Years’ Eve, fell in love, got engaged and then got married on May 19th 2012 at the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center in such a seriously beautiful wedding.
Katie and Andy’s style is classic romantic with a bit of a rustic and vintage twist. Erin from Rosehip Flora NAILED the flowers. The corrugated tin containers held such beautiful centerpieces, each one different. The guests kept commenting about how lovely they were – natural, beautiful, delicate, amazing. And Katie’s bouquet was beyond perfect! We had been pinning pictures throughout the planning process, and Erin got it exactly right. They said their vows under an arbor from Loot Vintage decorated by Erin inside the Visitor’s Gallery. Cocktail Hour followed in the Butterfly Garden, and then guests returned to the Courtyard for dinner and dancing. Word of Mouth Catering provided the delicious food and drinks (loved the custom named cocktail The Huxtable to represent a doctor marrying a lawyer – too cute) On each table, we had vintage salad plates (Loot again!) to bring that delicate feel to each place setting. The table numbers were another personal touch for the couple – each number told a story about them. Examples: “14: The day in May Andy proposed to Katie” or “225: Miles Katie and Andy drove every weekend from Austin to Corpus Christi to see each other.” After dinner, there were delish cupcakes by Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop and then the dancing started – enter Memphis Train Revue, one of my favorite bands. They know how to keep a dance floor going! So much fun!
And then at the end, Katie and Andy exited through a flurry of waving flags in the college colors – Clemson (orange and purple) and Auburn (orange and navy blue).
Finally, can we take a moment and talk about Katie’s dress? I mean… I’m a Jenny Packham fan (understatement), and Katie’s dress is exactly why. BEYOND GORGEOUS.
