Happy Friday!

Another fun week in the books over here – want a recap? Of course you do!

Sunday (this has nothing to do with work), I attended one of my favorite events in Austin – Concert in the Park! There’s something about picnicking on the lawn at the Long Center, listening to great music, watching the sun go down.  I’m bummed I only made it to one this year – definitely have to be better about going to more of them next year!

It’s no secret to anyone who knows me – I.LOVE.FLOWERS. And I love helping clients go through the floral process.  This week included a stop at Bouquets of Austin – it was a baby’s breath explosion in there as they worked on another event.

And then on Wednesday, we went by Brazos Hall for a tour – I fell in love with this space from the first time I stepped in there, and I’m dying to work on an event there! It’s seriously awesome.

This weekend we’ll be celebrating with Jackie and Chance at Camp Lucy – look out for pics on instagram (@3applesevents) or join us here next Friday!

Silver accents at weddings are so fun! They give that pop that can really tie the entire event together. There are so many creative ways to add silver to a wedding to achieve an elegant or vintage feel.

Sparkle on! Brooches add a fun shiny touch to a wedding’s design. You can incorporate them in lots of ways – and bonus points if you have some that have family history attached to them!

I absolutely LOVE lavender! I keep lavender around the house in either the form of candle or even dried in a vase. However, lavender doesn’t just look great around the house. It is gorgeous in weddings! When I was picking flowers for my wedding I knew that lavender was one flower I had to have. When using lavender, the options are virtually endless! 🙂

Well hello there!
Summer is winding down, but I don’t think the weather is aware of that just yet!

Here’s what we were up to this week!

Saturday, I spent the day with Jackie and Chance (getting married in 2 weeks!) and had a great visit out to Camp Lucy with Royal Fig Catering to finalize their details:

photo 1

Sunday I drove out to Weimar, TX for a final walkthrough with Jessica and Jeremy (getting married in a month!) at the Vineyards at Grohmann Farms with Pink Avocado.  Such a pretty place!

Monday – Our Fall Intern, Meg, started! You’ll be seeing her at networking events and lots of weddings in the fall! We’re so happy to have her on board!

Also on Monday, we were treated to a faaaaabulous lunch by Royal Fig Catering at the Harvest Room.  We love working with Royal Fig so much! I mean, seriously with this dessert? SO delicious!

Other fun things? An open house at Illusions Rentals and lunch with the amazing Sherry Hammonds.

Guests are often in awe of beautiful centerpieces at weddings. A great way to give your tables more personality is by folding your napkins in a not so normal way! Napkins are a great way to make a table setting more fun, elegant, or whimsical!

I absolutely loved working with Macy and Ben! First, I have to point out the Macy is a fellow Rice Owl 🙂 Their Memorial Day Weekend wedding was nothing short of EPIC.

To start, let’s talk about their venue – the historic Driskill Hotel in downtown Austin is an amazing setting for a classically beautiful wedding.  They said their I Do’s in the Driskill Ballroom in a really personal ceremony – their choices for the music set the tone for the ceremony, and really for the whole evening. The processional songs included “Calgary” by Bon Iver and “Your Hand in Mine” by Explosions in the Sky. And they recessed to “The Band Marches On” by Ghostland Observatory. During the ceremony, they asked the crowd join in to sing “Turn! Turn! Turn!”  by The Byrds and “Pride (In the Name of Love)” by U2.

Following the introduction of the couple into the reception which was held on the Mezzanine floor of the Hotel, the guests were in for a real treat!  Macy and Ben did a choreographed first dance that was seriously amazing (and that NO ONE knew was coming!).  They started dancing to “The Time of My Life” from Dirty Dancing which transitioned into “Around the World” by Daft Punk, and then they ended on “Party Rock” by LMFAO. And then just when you thought the first dance was done, Ben’s brother Max popped out in a robot costume like from the LMFAO video and got EVERYONE on the dance floor.  You can watch a video of this awesome first dance, shot by Lizama Videography, here: http://vimeo.com/43062232. And that was just the beginning of all the fun! Sauce was the perfect band for this crowd – everyone wanted to dance and party and celebrate this amazing couple.

For their design, Macy and Ben’s wedding had details galore, all featuring the glamorous, classic Hollywood feel. The table names were all romantic films like “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “Casablanca,” and each table number had a quote from the film to capture the love that filled the room that evening.  The Nouveau Romantics created all of the paper goods from the invitations to the escort cards, programs and bar menus – lots of gold paper, classic lettering. Very old Hollywood.  They also designed the flowers for the wedding – lush and elegant, ivory and green with pops of deep burgundies.

At the end of the night, Macy and Ben exited through a roar of cheers into a waiting horse-drawn carriage for a spin around downtown Austin.  Oh so romantic.

For a good part of your ceremony, your guests will be looking at your BACK! So why shouldn’t the back of your dress be as amazing and beautiful as the front?

At the end of Rachel and Adam’s October wedding, as we were loading up her parents’ car, I couldn’t help but tell Rachel’s mom and dad that I wished I could’ve been a guest at this wedding.  From start to finish, there were so many things for guests to enjoy (candy bar! photo booth!)… oh, and then there’s the epic dance floor.

But let’s start at the beginning!

Rachel and Adam’s wedding took place at AMOA Laguna Gloria, one of the most beautiful spots in Austin! After signing the Ketubah with their wedding party and families watching, they said their I Do’s under a beautifully decorated chuppah by The Last Petal in the outdoor amphitheater.  While they took photos, their guests enjoyed Cocktail Hour on the patio of the Villa snacking on delicious appetizers by Austin Catering.

The reception took place in a gooooorgeous tent by Marquee on the front lawn.  Between the drapery and chandeliers, a combination of long and round tables, so many beautiful flowers, and candles candles candles it was such a lush and romantic atmosphere in the tent.  After Rachel and Adam’s first dance and parent dances, the crowd was all up on their feet for a rousing hora followed by the blessing of the Challah by Adam’s dad.  Once the guests all had their dinner, the fun started – the toasts.  Rachel’s father is hi.la.ri.ous.  SO so funny.  And the best man and maid of honor toasts matched his laugh for laugh.  There were tears of laughter in the crowd. After dinner, there were plenty of options to satisfy any sweet tooth – Polkadots Cupcake Factory made a tower of yummy cupcakes, Austin Catering provided cookies, tartlets, brownies, and lemon bars, and a friend of Rachel’s family set up a candy bar.

And then fun really began!  You want a DJ to lead an awesome dance party? DJ Chicken George is your guy.  Seriously, the floor was never empty.  And when the groom grabbed the mic to rap along, things only got even more fun.  And as if that wasn’t enough, Whitney Lee Photography set up a photo booth complete with lots of fun props!

It was a hard task to narrow down the photos, but here we go!  Check out Rachel and Adam’s awesome wedding!
