hilary + david

Hilary and David’s wedding weekend was AWESOME.  Period.  Three days of super fun events for all their guests to enjoy.

The first event of the weekend was their Friday night Welcome Dinner held at The Contemporary Austin Jones Center on the rooftop.

Meant to be a mingling event rather than a sit down dinner, there were food stations with delectable Mexican food options for guests to enjoy catered by Word of Mouth Catering to go alongside agua fresca in fun flavors. And then for dessert, an Amy’s ice cream bar (what better welcome to Texas than Amy’s?) and passed churros!

In order to feel different from their wedding which was at Thurman’s Mansion at the Salt Lick, we kept the design of this event very modern to fit in the space.  White ottomans and square tables provided some seating for guests and Ilios strung cafe lights across the rooftop.

Wendee with Unexpected Elements did an amazing job with the flowers and decor for the whole weekend. For the Welcome Dinner, the design was primarily focused around succulents in all shapes and sizes, including the focal point – giant H and D letters made out of succulents with a deer head mounted on moss in between with painted antlers.  Wendee and her team carried the pops of color throughout with more painted antlers and custom orange pillows for the ottomans.

Also, this event marked the beginning of the armadillo theme that would show up throughout the weekend – on napkins, in their logo, and even a taxidermy fellow that Wendee procured!

A great way to kick off a weekend of fun!
