Hilary and David’s wedding weekend was AWESOME. Period. Three days of super fun events for all their guests to enjoy.
The first event of the weekend was their Friday night Welcome Dinner held at The Contemporary Austin Jones Center on the rooftop.
Meant to be a mingling event rather than a sit down dinner, there were food stations with delectable Mexican food options for guests to enjoy catered by Word of Mouth Catering to go alongside agua fresca in fun flavors. And then for dessert, an Amy’s ice cream bar (what better welcome to Texas than Amy’s?) and passed churros!
In order to feel different from their wedding which was at Thurman’s Mansion at the Salt Lick, we kept the design of this event very modern to fit in the space. White ottomans and square tables provided some seating for guests and Ilios strung cafe lights across the rooftop.
Wendee with Unexpected Elements did an amazing job with the flowers and decor for the whole weekend. For the Welcome Dinner, the design was primarily focused around succulents in all shapes and sizes, including the focal point – giant H and D letters made out of succulents with a deer head mounted on moss in between with painted antlers. Wendee and her team carried the pops of color throughout with more painted antlers and custom orange pillows for the ottomans.
Also, this event marked the beginning of the armadillo theme that would show up throughout the weekend – on napkins, in their logo, and even a taxidermy fellow that Wendee procured!
A great way to kick off a weekend of fun!

Hilarious. That’s the best word to describe Macy. She is so funny and has the best dry and sarcastic delivery ever. She was so fun to work with! And then when I met John, everything made sense – they are such a sweet couple. Their first look was so emotional and wonderful.
They got married on a September day at Barr Mansion. The forecast was clear and then just minutes before the ceremony, a weird storm came through! Just for a few minutes. And then by the time they were set to say “I do,” it had cleared up! It was a perfect good luck rain on their wedding day without affecting any of the proceedings.
Stems did a wonderful job with all the flowers and decor. Their flowers were so bright and colorful and created the perfect fun accents for their design, including bunting across the Barr Mansion ceiling and a lovely vintage door archway for the ceremony with hanging bottles of flowers.
Joel with Greenbelt DJ kept the dance floor going all night, and they had other fun things for their guests to do like custom cornhole outside, a photo booth inside by The Traveling Photo Booth and lots of delicious selections for something sweet at their dessert bar.
Great times were had by all!

The instant I met with Claire and her mom Billye about working with them on Claire’s wedding to Ross, I knew. We HAD to work together.
Claire and Ross’s Mercury Hall wedding was a vintage dream. I had so much fun collaborating with them on every piece of the design from the flowers and vintage altar by Melanie with Last Petal to crafting the button book table numbers and button escort cards (with calligraphy by The Stationery Bakery) to picking the pieces out for the lounge area by Loot Vintage and everything in between.
Even a last minute out-of-nowhere rain shower the day of the wedding couldn’t dampen the amazing wedding day!
Catering by Whole Foods, flowers and decor by Last Petal, music by The Royal Dukes Band. And any couple who has a late night grilled cheese food truck come by is a big winner in my book – thanks to Burro Cheese Kitchen.
Get ready to swoon!

A fairy tale wedding in the forest.
That’s how Francesca described the feel she wanted for her wedding. And, not to brag… ok maybe to brag a little…, but we knocked it out of the park. Lots of natural elements with a vintage twist.
First, Francesca and Jacob – I mega-heart these two people! Seriously, I loved working with them SO much.
Their summer wedding took place at The Wildflower Barn, an almost entirely outdoor venue, save for the barn where the dancefloor and photo booth were. The ceremony took place in a small clearing in the middle of the trees. So romantic! Under an arbor from Loot Vintage with hanging decor elements crafted by their close friend, Francesca and Jacob said “I do.” Sidebar – how much do I love her Claire Pettibone dress? Francesca’s personal flowers were so perfect – she wanted a gathering of branched flowers to hold and a floral crown to wear. She just looked so ethereal and beautiful! And Jupiter, their furry ring bearer? I have since told them that they should rent him out for weddings, he was so well behaved and – while I know this isn’t actually possible – I swear, he smiled the whole day!
Cocktail Hour happened across the venue with lawn games for people to play throughout the evening. Dinner took place under the trees with a canopy of festoon lights overhead. We rented mismatched china from Loot, and Royal Fig Catering did an amazing job as usual with the food. To find their tables, each guest had a succulent with their name as the escort cards. When Francesca started described what she wanted her flowers to feel like – very natural, lots of succulents – I knew exactly who we needed. Antonio with Transplants. And these are some of my favorite centerpieces ever! Found wood covered in succulents and white flowers. Each table was named after a spot special to the couple. And then for dessert, an amazing spread by Bake Sale – chocolate tamales, hand pies, and on and on.
I could go on and on about this wedding and all the small details and personal touches and how much I love it all and especially love this couple! But instead, why don’t you peruse the photos below – stunning work as always by Katherine O’Brien Photography.
Nell and Matt’s summer Houston wedding took place at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with the reception at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. The overall design for the event was a theme of a summer garden party.
For the ceremony, Nell wore a veil with lots of family history and her bridesmaids were in various shades of blues and purples. The flowers by In Bloom fit into the design perfectly with purple and blue hydrangea. Very summer!
The Houston Museum of Natural Science made for a very cool setting for a reception. When guests first arrived, they headed in cocktail hour in the Gem Hall upstairs. And then everyone moved down into the foyer for dinner and dancing. Also available to guests was the Cockrell Butterfly Center to wander through and hang out. The wedding was catered by Acute Catering with music by The Argyles. The reception flowers continued the garden party feel – Nell’s mother had a lovely vision of white antique-looking birdcages filled with flowers and little butterfly accents as a nod to the museum.
Since Nell and Matt live in Boston, the wedding closed out, appropriately, with a packed dance floor and “Sweet Caroline.” Congrats to the happy couple!

Megan and James are a sweet couple from Houston who were so excited about their wedding day and so laid back, just wanting to truly enjoy themselves. How laid back? When I asked Megan what the rain plan for the ceremony was, she said they would just get married in the rain. And if their guests wanted to watch, they could. If not, they could stay inside. I mean, how romantic is that? Luckily, we didn’t have to worry about it on the day of the wedding, but I feel like that’s a pretty good anecdote to give you insight into these two.
They got married in an outdoor June ceremony at Mercury Hall and then celebrated with dinner and dancing inside. Megan and her mom designed the wedding with lots of romantic rustic chic details like monogrammed burlap runners (both on the tables and on the aisle!), galvanized buckets of hydrangea, personalized Texas-stamped tea towel favors, and then lots and lots of photos of Megan and James everywhere.
They had lots of fantastic vendors on board including Royal Fig Catering, Petals Ink, and Buzz and the Blue Cats.

We need to talk about Kristina’s wedding dress. A custom Linda Asaf dress, Kristina collaborated with the designer on every fabric choice and stitch from start to finish and the result is phenomenal. I LOVE it so much! And it fit Kristina like a glove – physically yes, but also her personality. Kristina is a super fun and stylish person everyday, so it only made sense that she had a unique gray dress for her wedding day to Charles.
Kristina and Charles hosted their wedding at the home that they’ve created together in South Austin. It’s a stunning contemporary property and made for the perfect setting for a backyard wedding – but don’t get thrown by “backyard wedding.” I think saying that has a casual connotation, but not so in this case. Their wedding was modern chic and anything but traditional.
They got married by a giant oak tree in the backyard with all their family and friends (and their two handsome pups wearing red ties!) standing around them and then the reception was an upscale cocktail party. Waves and waves of delicious foods were passed by Austin Catering starting with lighter more appetizer-style pieces into heavier more dinner-style foods and then into the cake bars by Blue Note Bakery. There was an Annie Ray photobooth (anyone who’s ever been to an event with Annie Ray knows how much fun she is!), lots of dancing, and plenty of places to hang out in the yard from ottomans to farm tables, to cocktail tables and then their home was open for people to mingle inside the main house, the guest house, or on the dance floor (which was in their carport, but you’d never know it!).
The design needed to keep in the feel of the home, so everything was very contemporary and all in reds. Low red roses in square vases. Red gerber daisies floating in the pool, and my favorite part (something Kristina had mentioned from the beginning), an alternating runner of single rose buds and candles on their wood dining table. And then since it was in the yard, we had candle lanterns all over which added such a romantic element.
Everything turned out so beautifully!

Kacy and Cole are beyond cool. Just take a look at the amazing design that they put together for their Horseshoe Bay wedding, and you’ll start getting an idea of just HOW cool.
Every piece of the design was created by the couple! Kacy is a really talented graphic designer (understatement) and she created all of the paper goods from the stunning invitations (seriously, the die cut invite is to die for!) to the programs and menus to the “thank you” birds that sat on top of their logoed favor glasses. And Cole printed and cut it all. Even the giant chalkboard guest book – that wasn’t just a chalkboard from any store. No no. They purchased molding and then built the chalkboard exactly how they wanted. The deep purples combined with the pops of chevron that showed up throughout made for a seriously beautiful wedding – so modern and chic.
Their reception at Quail Point Lodge was catered by Austin Catering with a beauty of a cake by Polkadots. And Anthony from Greenbelt DJ definitely got the dance floor rocking.
PS the portrait with the turquoise Mustang is one of my all-time favorites.

Just the sweetest. Lindsay and Conor are undoubtedly two of the nicest people I have ever met (with some of the best smiles ever). And just a true joy to work with. Oh, and wait till you see Lindsay’s dress. Trust me.
Their wedding took place at the Allan House and was an absolutely beautiful affair. Verbena’s sweet florals in blush tones, creams, corals and greens with mercury glass accents fit perfectly in the vintage setting at the Allan House and set the stage for a truly gorgeous spring wedding.
With catering by Pascal’s, a cake by Classic Cakes by Lori, a dancefloor headed up by Groove Knight, and a lovely Austin spring day to boot, their wedding was amazing from start to sparklers.

I just loved working with Stefanie and Pete. From start to finish, it was so fun to get to know these two kind, funny, and oh-so-in-love people!
They got married in a March wedding at Mercury Hall (and you all KNOW how much I love Mercury Hall. One of my favorite places in Austin!).
Stefanie and Pete did an amazing job with all of the planning and put together a seriously all-star team of vendors. Royal Fig Catering, Greenbelt DJ, Bouquets of Austin, Michelle’s Patisserie, The Lost Pines, and then add in Lizama Videography and Sherry Hammonds Photography to capture it all – so many of our favorites to work with!
Everything was so beautiful from the flowers to the paper goods and it all just felt like spring. From the gorgeous outdoor ceremony to the fun glow stick sendoff, this one was a blast.
